Carlsbad Caverns National Park

Carlsbad Caverns National Park

DescriptionLocation: Carlsbad Caverns National Park
Description: As you pass through the Chihuahuan Desert and Guadalupe Mountains of southeastern New Mexico and west Texas—filled with prickly pear, chollas, sotols and agaves—you might never guess there are more than 300 known caves beneath the surface. The park contains 113 of these caves, formed when sulfuric acid dissolved the surrounding limestone, creating some of the largest caves in North America.

Saguaro National Park, Arizona

Saguaro National Park, Arizona

DescriptionEnormous cacti, silhouetted by the setting sun, for most of us the Giant Sauraro is the universal symbol of the American West. And yet, these majestic plants are only found in a small portion of the United States. Saguaro National Park protects some of the most impressive forests of these sub-tropical giants, on the edge of the modern City of Tucson.
