The Design Center Stuttgart는 지방행정기관으로, 독일 연방공화국 디자인협회이다. 가구와 가정용품, 기계 및 도구등의 전반적인 디자인을 진흥하여 국가적 산업용품의 질을 향상시키기 위하여 설립되었다.

The Design Center Stuttgart는 센터내 전시장에서 Exhibitions를 주관하고 카다로그제작, 디자인 연구/고찰 및 전포, 디자인 장학금수여, 매년 국제디자인경연대회(Baden-Wurttemberg International Design Award)를 개최하며, 디자인 관련 세미나와 강연등의 학술활동과 5,000권이상의 디자인도서와 60종류의 정기간행물을 보유하고 있는 디자인도서관을 운영하는 등 광범위한 디자인 자료와 정보, 테이터베이스를 정립하고 있다.

센터(Haus der Wirtschaft)내의 전시장에서는 정기적으로 중요한 디자인전시와 세미나 및 회의로 행사가 바뀌는데, 일반인에게 디자인의 흥미와 그 범위를 넓히는데 그 목적을 갖는다.

슈투트가르트는 디자인관련 볼거리가 많은 도시로(예를 들어, 벤츠나 포르쉐등의 자동차뮤지엄 등...) 더불어 이 한적하고 넓은 센터에도 꼭 들러보도록 하자.
